I tried willpower alone. It never works, at least for me. I tried going outside or showers etc, when the urges hit – also not much result.

Best porn blocker setup

1. CleanBrowsing DNS resolver settings in the router.
2. Cold Turkey on the PC/Mac
3. Blocker Hero on your phone (paid version is better but not absolutely necessary)

This will greatly help with preventing relapses when urges arise.

Router DNS: CleanBrowsing

It’s different for every router but basically, you type in the IP address of your router into the browser. That will take you to the page of your router settings. There you find the option where you can insert the settings, save and you’re done.

Check out CleanBrowsing tutorial on their site. It’s pretty straightforward.

However – this alone won’t work cause nothing is stopping you from changing it back. So you need Cold Turkey.

PC/Mac: Cold Turkey

Cold Turkey is a website-blocking app to block access to your router settings once set. It takes some time to properly block all ways of bypassing it with Cold Turkey – trial and error.

But soon enough, it will be nearly impossible to access porn on your devices. If it’s all calibrated properly and cunningly, there’s little you can do to successfully bypass the barrier.

It’s also good to have more than one safety measure cause of laziness – it will take longer to break (if it can be broken at all) and by the time you get through your urges will subside.

Lack of proximity

Think army or prison. There is no escape – you have no choice but to obey the system because it leaves you no choice but to cooperate.

Improving your porn-blocking DNS over time

Everyone would have to set it up and then patch it up every time an opening has been found. With each new update, the system should be less and less penetrable until it reaches a point where it’s practically nearly impossible. I’d say that would take around 6 months on average to do, the whole find a gap, relapse, patch it up, try again.
